Pink Awareness
Normally, in the 21st century, people will associate pink items for sale as being related somehow to breast cancer. But there are still many people who are not quite sure yet what to make of it and exactly it does mean.

They generally think that if someone is wearing a pink rubber bracelet that it means that person has had or has currently some form of breast cancer. What they may not realize is that the bracelet may also be symbolic of an awareness of the need for breast cancer research. They also may not realize that the person wearing the bracelet may have heavily donated to one of the many breast cancer foundations or societies in existence. The Susan G. Komen foundation is one such organization.

Pink Tool Chests
Pink tool chests are one of those items you can purchase which is symbolic of, and related to, breast cancer awareness. Purchasing a pink tool chest allows for a certain amount of sale proceeds to go to a specified breast cancer research foundation.

It is one of the many pink hardware/tool items available for women to purchase that signifies they either have breast cancer, that they have had breast cancer, or that they know of a friend or relative who has had it or who has died from it. Sears was one of the first companies to sell pink tool chests. Home Depot and Amazon Sell them also. And did you know that there are even rolling pink tool chests?

We are not talking about a flimsy aluminum set of drawers here. We are talking about an eighteen gauge steel, twenty-six inch, five-drawer tool chest designed for serious abuse and use. Just compare it to a Craftsman; you’ll get the idea. In one of these pink tool chests can be any number of pink tools. You can purchase pink wrenches, screwdrivers, drills, and pliers too.

Even Men Use Pink Hardware
Even men purchase pink hardware and tools. Yes it’s true. A man may be supporting his wife’s fight against breast cancer and he himself may purchase a pink hardware item just for that reason. After all, isn’t it said that only real men wear pink? Well, why then can they not utilize pink tool chests, pink tools and other pink hardware items? They can and they do. Men are sensitive too you know. And they also can get breast cancer, which would bring up a whole other subject matter.

Pink Tools for Women, and Men To

Pink Tools for Women, and Men As Well

pink cordless drillThere are many different options when buying tools. Even if you go to the hardware store to buy a hammer, there will be many different styles from which you can choose. Once you narrow down the style, you are still not done yet. Then you must choose the material your new tool is to be made out of.

Now you must choose the primary color for your tool. Gone are the days of yesteryear when the choices were black, blue or wooden. Now possible color choices include different shades of these colors, different materials and even new colors. You will probably have to choose between having wooden handles or aluminum handles.

When that is done is when you start picking colors. Some people may not care about the colors of their tools, while others will be very concerned about having a matching set of tools. If your mind is not made up already, or if these are the first tools you are purchasing, then pink tools are a very good option.

Pink tools for women only is no longer the case. Men can use them as well, because a tool is a tool. Pink tools usually are supporting breast cancer research. You can be sure by looking on the label or item box.

If you are going to be purchasing the tool anyways, why not support a very worthy cause. Chances are it will not matter if you are in a family owned hardware store or a big box store, there will be a pink tool section.

Tools are no longer just for men, but pink tools do not have to be for women only. Probably the only items you will not find a pink choice for will be the power tools. These tools are usually mostly black, sometimes they will have an accent color. The demand for these tools to be offered in pink has not gotten great enough, yet.

As more and more women begin to work with their hands more and more, pink tools will become more prevalent in the stores. The fact that these pink tools for women usually support breast cancer research is an added bonus.

Be sure to look for the pink ribbon or the designation of breast cancer research supporter before you buy. Tools are meant to last a long time with proper care so your support will be known for a long time without you even having to say a word.

Buying Pink Tools Can Support Breast Cancer Research

Buying Pink Tools Can Support Breast Cancer Research

Five years ago, one of my best friends showed up for the volunteer construction project we were working on with a big grin on her face. “I have a surprise for you,” she said. After insisting I close my eyes for the effect, she placed something in my hand. It was heavy and rectangular with a slightly rough texture.

ladies pink tool kitI opened my eyes to find a pink tool box resting in my hand. Upon opening the pink tool box, I found pliers, screwdriver sets, and other helpful tools –all in pink.

She giggled and said, “Now none of the guys will run off with your tools.” The thought of a full-grown man with a 5 o’clock shadow running around with my pink tools in his hand made me smile. Since then, I’ve learned of an even better motive for buying pink tools: supporting breast cancer research. Take, for example, the website: www.littlepinktools.com/.

By buying pink tools, in kits or separately, you will be donating to Breast Cancer Research. The Little Pink Tools company gives 10% of all sales to the Breast Cancer Research cause. An additional benefit is that all tools come with a lifetime guarantee.

That’s not a bad deal—buy beautiful, guaranteed tools and support a great cause! Another company promoting the same cause is pink Tomboy Tools, who donates $1 from selected products and 5% of profits from pink hand tools to charitable organizations including animal shelters and breast cancer research. Though tomboy tools are not as focused in its donations to breast cancer (as it divides it among other charitable organizations), it is still nice to know that purchasing a tool you need will help a woman or animal in need. Maybe you feel you don’t use tools very often, so why support the sale of a pink tool?

Though you may not be a professional construction worker or ceramic tile layer, would it be nice to have a cordless drill on hand to hand a picture in your home without borrowing from the neighbor? And, like it or not, we all have had to use a screwdriver or pliers at some point in our life (even if we hate the thought of tools).

It can give a sense of satisfaction to have a handy toolkit around the home or in the automobile. So, if you are thinking of making such a purchase, perhaps you can buy a pink tool box or pink toolkit and support a worthy cause at the same time!

Using A Pink Tool Chest Supports A Good Cause

Support A Good Cause Use A Pink Tool Chest

pink tool chestIf you see a guy doing handyman work around town and carrying a pink tool chest, that could be my dad. And no, he isn’t gay, nor is he color blind. He is just a guy who feels a tremendous loyalty to an organization that does a lot of good for women.

It is the Susan G. Komen organization who sponsors the “Race for a Cure” charity events to raise money for breast cancer research. More macho guys should be as uninhibited when it comes to their masculinity as my dad. But then, he has a good reason. My mother has breast cancer. Although it is in remission now, we feel very strongly about supporting the cause and raising money for cancer research.

And what better way to do that than by using the pink products that support the Komen foundation. It all started with the pink ribbon, but now many companies market pink products of all kinds and a portion of the purchase price goes to the Susan G. Komen for a cure foundation.

So, Dad has a pink tool chest.

It is fully equipped with high quality tools, including a hammer, mini screwdrivers, level, several different kinds of pliers and wrenches, a measuring tape, screw drivers, drill bits and hex keys. It has just about everything you could need to take care of the basic household jobs. It’s a handy thing to have and everything fits nice and compactly in the durable, soft-sided tote that it comes in. It is very well designed with snug little compartments for each tool or accessory.

In fact, as I said, my dad is a handyman by trade and this pink tool chest goes with him on every job, along with a couple of other handy tools. He always takes along his electric drill (also pink, of course) and jig saw. With just this kit and the electric hand tools, he can accomplish most of the tasks required of him. So if you see anyone, male or female, walking around with a pink tool chest or power tool, don’t be too quick to judge.

They may just be people with a social consciousness who want to do their small part to make life better for others. I think maybe it’s time for me to get myself one of those little pink tool chests. I need to develop some Do-It-Yourself skills … with my own pink tool chest.

Handy Tip
power drills pink Grind metal and remove rust. If you don’t own a handheld angle grinder, you can use an attachment that chucks into your cordless drill and allows you to use wheels designed for angle grinders. Alternatively, pick up a “brush bit” to use with your drill to remove rust from iron and steel tools and home items.
